Adrenocorticotropic hormone blood test is used to measure the ACTH levels in the blood. An ACTH test along with a cortisol test can also be used to diagnose pituitary or adrenal glands disorders like Cushing's syndrome ( a condition where the adrenal gland makes too much cortisol), Cushing's disease (a form of Cushing's syndrome), Addison disease (a condition in which the adrenal gland doesn't make enough cortisol), adrenal tumors, and pituitary tumors, etc.
