The Cortisol, Total, LC/MS blood test is used to diagnose adrenal gland disorders like Cushing's syndrome (or hypercortisolism, a condition where the adrenal glands produce abnormally high levels of the hormone cortisol), and Addison disease (or hypocortisolism, a condition where the adrenal glands do not produce enough of the hormone cortisol).
