This test determines whether this hormone is within normal levels since its imbalance can affect a person’s reproductive health. This test assesses ovarian function including follicle development for in vitro fertilization. It is also used for monitoring low dose female hormone replacement therapy in postmenopausal women and for monitoring anti-estrogen therapy. In some cases, an abnormal level of this hormone can cause urinary tract infection, weak bones, and depression.
